Assistant Professor, Theatre

Brian FrançoiseBrian Françoise is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Goucher College.


As a professional actor, Mr. Francoise has performed in over 30 productions in regional theatres such as The Shakespeare Theatre (Washington, DC), Center Stage, TheatreVirginia (Richmond, VA) Blue Ridge Theatre Festival (VA), and Playhouse on the Square (Memphis, TN). Professor Francoise has taught master classes at The Shakespeare Theatre, Acting for Teens at Playhouse on the Square and Devising at Arena Stage in Washington, DC. Goucher productions include producing Carol Weinberg’s To Get to the Other Side as part of the 2003 Baltimore Playwrights Festival. He also directed The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Arms and the Man by Bernard Shaw, Cradle Will Rock by Marc Blitzstein, Slaughter City by Naomi Wallace and Our Country’s Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker. At Goucher, Brian's courses and topics include Acting Styles, Shakespeare, Auditioning, International Education, Theatre Education, Peace Studies, and Community-based Theatre.

Mr. Francoise freelances widely as a teaching artist who strives to implement community performance and educational theatre projects in Greater Baltimore. Brian co-founded Theatre Action Group (TAG), a collective of citizen artists empowered with the language of theatre to promote dialogue, encourage social action and build community.
