We list and annotate informal comments about books that have made their mark on the "community of practice" of community-based performance.

Writers, innovators, academics, and artists-activists have contributed widely to the theory and practice of the forever complexifying and emerging field of community-based performance. The number of books and resources deemed "important" is daunting. Never fear. We feature a list of books that represent good ways of getting started or accessible materials your should eventually read or sample or books to get your library to buy for a lifelong habit of supporting your interests in community performance. Eventually, we'd like to represent a hefty list of materials here.

If you have a suggestion for a book or resource, please don't hesitate to leave your suggestion at brian@communityperformance.org. A concurrent link to an accumulating and exhaustive bibliography is forthcoming.
